For UCB, the process will begin around October-November 2025. The UCB team in India will visit the campus to give an overview of UCB to the students and liaise with them for their documents.
Ideally, one has to start a year in advance. This helps in case students need to give any English test, or have a loan requirement, etc., they get ample time to work on such things. By May, the students have to pay the fee, and start maintaining funds for visa, book their TB test, etc., since the semester starts in September.

For the English language waiver, the students, if from certain boards have scored minimum required marks as mentioned on the UCB website, they do not need to give IELTS. The scores can be found here

- For the grade sheets: It is stated that the student should have successfully completed 2 years (Semesters I-IV) of BSC Hospitality and Culinary Management at Symbiosis with a minimum grade of 5 CGPA
- A statement of purpose from the student, the format for which will be shared by UCB as required.
- Letter of recommendation from Symbiosis.
- Passport.
- If any other document is required, we will intimate you and the team in advance.
- Students are allowed to work 20 hours a week during their academic semester. During the placement year, they can work full time.

- The University can potentially arrange an airport pick-up if the number of students are over 6. Post enrolment at the International office, they get a letter from the University for registration with NHS, bank account opening, etc., there are lot of activities for Indian students and there are societies the students can be a part of.
- We look at the minimum wage as that among is definitely guaranteed. The minimum wage is updated yearly. Currently, it is GBP 11.44 for pupils aged 21 year and above, and 18.6 for 18 – 20 year old (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-national-minimum-wage-in-2024)
- It is always recommended that students stay at the University accommodation as it is convenient, economically beneficial and well secured. In case of any support, the University is prompt and can help the students without much delay.
- UCB has its own accommodation which we recommend the students to choose.
- The cost of living as of today in the UK is roughly around GBP 750-800/month.
- The accommodation is available for the first year. In the second year, the students mostly get internships outside Birmingham, so they need to secure an accommodation in the city/town they are moving to. If they’re in Birmingham for their placement, they can check with the accommodation team and if available they can avail the same.
