Pune's perfect pursuit: pies, pune & peaks.
Pune, a city where people come for job for living and students come for their higher education. It is basically a mixed culture over here. Currently in my free time i usually explore pune because the money i get for my expenses i usually spent it on traveling here and there. My adventure began at Vetal Hills, a place that promises peace but a lot of hiking is required.
Early one morning, I decided to conquer Vetal Hills, convinced I was in peak condition—. As I huffed and puffed my way up the trail, I went with my friends in my college. All of my friends were so energetic and I was the one so lazy and stopping and taking breaks i think it was powered by last night’s pizza.
When I finally reached the top, I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of Pune, but it was slightly marred by my heavy breathing that could rival a freight train. I decided to meditate and channel my inner zen. The view was incredible. I was astonished by the beauty of pune. The hiking was worth it. I was happy to see the view which made me sit there for hours. And it started to become hot as it was almost 1pm. So we decided to return back.
After my near-zen moment, I descended and headed straight to Sujata Mastani, where the real peace awaited. There, I indulged in their famous Mastani—an epic milkshake that’s basically dessert in a cup. As I savored the creamy goodness, I pondered whether I could marry this drink. The rich flavors swirled together like my thoughts after that hike.
To top off my culinary journey, I hit the streets for some classic Pune street food. I devoured vada pav, which tasted like heaven, or at least what I imagine heaven tastes like while I’m trying to work off my pizza guilt. Each bite was a reminder that life is all about balance—especially if that balance involves delicious food and a bit of exercise… maybe tomorrow.
My day in Pune, filled with nature and food, taught me that peace doesn’t always come from silence; sometimes, it’s found in laughter, good food, friends and slightly embarrassing moments on a hill. So here’s to Vetal Hills—where the air is fresh, the views are stunning, and the pizza regrets can always be soothed with a mastani.
